MediaFirst OTT Media Platform
MediaFirst OTT Media Platform
One destination for every way you watch. MediaFirst brings live TV, recordings, on-demand titles, pay-per-view events, and popular streaming apps like Netflix together into a single, seamless viewing experience.
Ericsson’s MediaFirst TV Platform is a cloud-native, end-to-end pay-TV solution designed to help operators deliver seamless, high-quality viewing experiences across every screen—from set-top boxes to tablets and mobile devices. Built for scale and flexibility, MediaFirst enables service providers to manage content, personalize experiences, and evolve their offerings in an increasingly competitive media landscape.
Since its launch in 2017, MediaFirst has been deployed by 75 operators worldwide, delivering media experiences to more than 19 million subscribers. Leading providers including Telus, Bell Canada, J:COM, and Inspur rely on the platform to power their next-generation TV services.
In July 2018, Ericsson consolidated its media portfolio under the MediaKind brand, bringing together MediaFirst with established technologies such as Mediaroom, TANDBERG Television, and Envivio—marking a strategic shift toward a unified, future-ready media solutions business.

MediaFirst's Clients
Deliver Corresponding User Experience
MediaFist platform prioritized a consistent user experience across all devices, resulting in corresponding information design, interaction, and media content for users accessing video content on any device.
Media Platform, Not a Product
Operators can customize each component of MediaFirst to fit their service offerings and content library structure.
Agile Development
MediaFirst followed the agile development model. The design team worked with the product management team, engineers, and clients to define product requirements and deliver new features in shorter-release cycles.
MediaFirst was designed as a platform. Therefore, we approached UI as a system where layers of interface serve specific functionalities. Positioning of UI elements, communications, and metadata supported users in making decisions. Below are samples from the client's pitch decks and highlighted design work from MediaFirst interaction documents.
