Unlike hotels, rentals face distinct challenges: amenities vary from property to property, and on-site services are rarely available. Guests often depend on scattered emails or outdated in-unit binders to learn how appliances work, where supplies are stored, or which rules apply. For operators, this lack of clarity results in frequent service calls, regulatory compliance risks, property misuse, and costly damages. These gaps highlight the need for tools that simplify communication and create consistent, seamless guest experiences.
Guests - Vacation rental guests look for unique, personalized stays while expecting hotel-level hospitality. They want to settle in quickly, maximize their vacation time, and have concierge-style services instantly available. Guests also rely on trusted recommendations from hosts or property managers to discover local experiences. Working hand in hand with strategic property management partners, the GIS team shaped and prioritized the product roadmap. The designs below showcase how this collaboration informed clearer value propositions and a more streamlined content management experience.
Revenue-generating Service Platform
Property management companies and hosts are always looking for ways to generate extra revenue. For GuestView Guide subscribers, this extra revenue could offset the monthly fee and create more opportunities for increasing the earnings from the guest stay. We interviewed property managers to understand high-demand services better. We also evaluated other services to identify key design factors. As part of our design goals, we also aimed to enable property managers to collect payments directly. To ensure privacy and security for those who ordered the services, we opted for mobile payment since the signage was accessible to all guests.
Slideshow Ads
The feature aimed to enhance the appeal of the digital concierge's revenue-generating services platform. The slideshow mode was found to be useful for promotion, as property managers were able to include their custom advertisements in their slideshow, which increased the chance of exposing advertising to vacation rental guests. Since its release, property managers have found clever ways to utilize the advertisements on the concierge, making this feature very popular.
Dashboard & Onboarding Experience
As part of our efforts to enhance the design of GuestView Guide CMS, we reviewed the cloud-based CMS. Our goal was to determine how the CMS could help our clients set up and optimize their content for their digital concierges. We focused on the following areas during this assessment:
